Iraq to have one more round of Iran-Saudi discussions

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is planning to meet his Saudi partner Faisal Bin Farhan in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, an Iranian administrator declared yesterday.

Javad Karimi-Ghodousi told the Fars News Agency that there was “no turn of events” since the discussions that started in April 2021 between Tehran and Riyadh.

He said that the forthcoming gathering would examine “two-sided relations, the kickoff of government offices, and local issues, particularly the Yemen war.”

The Iranian authority didn’t give insights concerning when the gatherings would happen.

Iran and Saudi Arabia cut off discretionary ties in 2016 after Riyadh executed a high-profile Saudi Shia minister and dissident, Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr, inciting mass fights both locally in the eastern territory town of Qatif and in Iran where dissenters scoured and put a match to the Saudi international safe haven in Tehran. The two nations have additionally participated in a few intermediary battles in the district with contention in view of seeking partisan belief systems and international affairs thought processes.
