Tunisia Minister rejects allegations of normalizing relations with Israel

Tunisian Minister of Religious Affairs, Ibrahim Echaib, excused allegations made against the public authority about the supposed standardization of relations with Israel, in front of the yearly journey of Jews to El-Ghriba Synagogue on the island of Djerba in the south-east of the country.

“These allegations are [about] … scoring political focuses,” he said, adding that “Tunisia’s position against standardization” of relations with Israel is strong and clear.

He additionally said that such allegations hurt the picture of Tunisia and the island of Djerba.
